Art in the Open & Patriots of Privilege

I read this Poem at the Art in the Open poetry reading outside of Street Roots before it was published. I was born and raised in the South to be specific Shreveport Louisiana, so seeing and being around white supremacy is nothing new, it has not changed it merely went underground, waiting for a new leader who would not condone the actions of racist, bigoted, human beings who refuse to accept anything other than outdated religious dogma, that is already misconstrued from its original teachings. This is not meant as a slight to all Christians, ONLY the hypocritical zealots and ones that think that anyone not of their faith or belief systems and who is anything other than white and privileged, should have no rights, despite the fact that all most all of our ancestors came across the oceans blue.
