War

War

By Aileen McPherson

WAR, when this word is spoken for many it conjures up Images,

Foreign lands, ships for battle, thanks to siege,

Bombs and guns, brutality, violence, and

Death at the hands of another Human being.

War is Hell, so they say.

Yet, what of the other War?

I hear you say, What other war, there is none, save the ones our militaries fight, protecting
Our Homes and Country.

Ah, I speak of the War at home, in the Home.

Assailants who bore you into this world, then

In Anger, threaten to take you out as quickly.
Where sleep deprivation is a nightly routine,
Backhanded strikes break down body, a

Silent War, the war of words assailing
The mind, breaking it harder, faster, showing,

Forcing servitude in All things, Reminder
You are nothing, worthless, Do as your told! Or face my wrath.

This is the Hidden War, behind closed doors.
