Falling Leaves
By Aileen McPherson
Bleak are the hollows of Autumn,
Where births and deaths enter twine,
Memories steeped black pekoe orange,
Ages ago it seems.
Sorrowful dreams no longer seen,
Tears as leaves falling, falling, fallen
Blanket the ground crunching, crackling,
Slippery slope, lost footing, growing dawn.
Golden halo, purple tides, crisp brisk,
Beauty in the mist, fluffy tails, acorn hails,
Concerning complaints utilizes strengths, courage
Amidst the chaos Phoenix flies consumed
dies in the Autumn to arise in the Spring.
